As our firms have done business with each other for ten years, it isour pleasure to grant your request to lower the prices of ourraincoat. However, our own overhead costs have risen sharply in thepast 12 months, and to reduce prices by the 20% you mention would notbe possible without considerably lowering our standards of quality. Thisis something we are not prepared to do.

Instead of a 20% reduction on raincoat, we suggest a reduction of 5%on all our products for orders of $500 or more. On orders of this sizewe could make such a reduction without lowering our standards.
